Physical therapy is not just about reducing your pain and regaining your strength and range of motion. It is about getting you back to doing the activities that you love or are required to do. At Color Country Physical Therapy, we sit down with each patient on day one and ask what their goals for physical therapy are. We then work that into our patients’ treatment plans to ensure that they are progressing towards their goals.
Let’s say that you have a goal to rock climb at full function without pain. We will put you into scenarios that require actions similar to those needed while climbing a cliff.
This is done in a progressive manner to ensure safety and to apply appropriate forces through the tissues. On your last day of physical therapy, you should feel confident to hit the cliffs without any issue at all; and we might even join you on the cliffs!
If your goals are simple such as “walk without pain” or “reduce risk of falling,” we can focus our treatments on your walking technique or balance strategies to help you achieve these goals. If you like hiking on uneven terrain or work on a farm, we can simulate these settings in our clinic to ensure that you are stable and safe walking on the trail or farm. Want to return to sport? We love working with athletes to get them back on the field or course!
Our goal is always to help our patients achieve their goals and prevent them from coming back in with the same or related injury because they weren’t ready for the activities that they love. We are confident in our abilities to assist patients back to what they love doing. Visit the Wall of Fame page on our website to see patients who achieved their functional goals in physical therapy and are once again doing the things that they love.
